Keys to Nursing Decisions - Reflection, Ethics, Accountability, and Confidence

End of Life Care

The course identifies relevant research and theory and provides a thorough analysis of the issue as it relates to end-of-life care. The textbook examines cases using the knowledge gathered from this investigation as a real-world illustration of end-of-life care. The proper responsibilities and expectations of nurses dealing with patients at the end-of-life are clarified and emphasized, giving nurses the foundational knowledge and useful techniques they need to confidently provide end-of-life care.

HIV/AIDS Awareness

This course provides the necessary background information for students to understand the biology of HIV/ AIDS, while also providing information on critical epidemiological patterns and research developments. A Pharmacological Overview - the Medical Benefits of Marijuana

Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act. Healthcare professionals leave formal education without understanding the therapeutic benefits of cannabis. Patient's inquiries cause doctors to do their research to learn of the drug's therapeutic value, and because the drug is still considered illegal in many states doctors are afraid to recommend marijuana to their patients.  

In this course, you will learn about specific medical uses for medical marijuana, including its application for sufferers of cancer,  AIDS, glaucoma, and seizure issues, and its potential use in psychiatry.  You will explore the dosages and administration of cannabis, along with considerations on the use of the drug during pregnancy and the risks of addiction and dependency.
